My First Art Exhibition in Pāvilosta
In 2016, I had the honor of hosting my first-ever art exhibition, “Pāvilostas Stāsti Gleznās”, in the beautiful coastal town of Pāvilosta, Latvia. This milestone event was part of the annual Jūras Svētki (Sea Festival) and was graciously hosted at the Pāvilosta Local History Museum, with special thanks to Irina Kurčanova for providing the venue.
When I was little, graphic pencils became my gateway to creativity. Horses were my first inspiration—their flowing manes, dynamic poses, and gentle expressions captivated me.
The Inspiration Behind “Pāvilostas Stāsti Gleznās”
The exhibition featured a collection of acrylic paintings inspired by the mesmerizing beauty of Pāvilosta’s seascapes. Growing up surrounded by the allure of the sea, I wanted to immortalize its essence on canvas. Each painting tells a story, capturing the unique charm of this coastal town.
Some highlights included:
- “Akmeņraga Bāka” (The Akmeņrags Lighthouse): A tribute to the iconic lighthouse that has guided sailors for generations.
- “Mols” (The Jetty): A piece that showcases the rugged beauty and serene atmosphere of Pāvilosta’s coastline.
Bringing Pāvilosta to Life Through Art
Every painting in this collection reflects my deep connection to Pāvilosta’s maritime heritage. The vivid blues, serene grays, and striking whites of the sea and sky found their way onto my canvases, celebrating the harmony and power of the sea.
The Venue: A Perfect Match
The Pāvilosta Local History Museum was an ideal backdrop for this exhibition, connecting art with history. The museum itself preserves the rich culture of this coastal town, making it the perfect setting for my sea-inspired works.
A Big Thank You
A special thank you to Irina Kurčanova, whose support and generosity made this exhibition possible. Her willingness to open the museum doors for my debut exhibition helped turn my dream into reality.
Reflections on My First Exhibition
Looking back, “Pāvilostas Stāsti Gleznās” was more than an exhibition—it was a celebration of the sea and its stories. This experience was the start of my journey as an artist, giving me the confidence to continue creating and sharing my work with others.
